The Most popular Beer at SXSW

StaffReporter

If you visit a local Seattle pub you will often find that the local beer of choice is a Mac and Jacks African Amber in hand, or a chilled can of Rainier. The same can be said for SXSW, where the two beers most seen in the hands of locals and visitors alike, drinking to their hearts content, are Shiner Bock, a delicious beer from the Spoetzl brewery in Shiner Texas, and Lonestar Beer labeled the “official beer of Texas”.

What is interesting is that despite the taste, most of the “out-of-towners” choose this beer, because they want to be part of all that Austin has to offer. I am here, I might as well drink what the locals do. Same goes for BBQ, where the ribs, pork roast, and BBQ sause are a-plenty on every street corner. The verdict from here, it is all delicious, and a great idea on a Sunny day after the sessions.

  • Anthony Bourdain is drinking one right now during his panel, so it must be good :-)
